  1. I would like to answer the third queston. The reason why some of those names become popular is because they are easy to remenber for all generations. As we can see from the charts, there are no names which we have never heard, so those are too ordinary in a way, but to be remenberd easily by people, they are so usuful names.

  2. I want to answer the first question.
My brother's name is on the list.
    His name is "Kenta".
It seems that his name was popular in 1985 and 1995.
    Actually,he was born in 1987.
However,my parents did not name him "Kenta" just because it was popular.
Whether the name is popular or not, every name has special meaning, I think.

The sound of name is not rare, but the spelling is unusual.
"Mi" means fruit and "ka" means flower.
My name and her name are related to plant.

I only found my mother's name 「Yuuko」on the 1975. However, as you can guess, she is not that young. I can't tell you when she was born.

  8. Hello Matt.
I would like to answer the third question.
For Japanese, the Boy's popular names in 1945(Masaru,Isamu,Susumu,Katsutoshi) are associated with "victory" "courage" and so on.
In 1945 Japan were at war, so the parents gave their children such names, I think.

  9. I chosen the second question from these three questions and answer it.
The best boy's name I like is Makoto, and girl's name is Mai.
I don't like the boy's name Kenta, and girl's name Akemi.
There are no profound reasons. It's just my hunch.
    see you.

  10. I'd like to answer Q2.

    I like "Tsuyoshi" the best.
    It means "strong" in Japanese.
I think boys given this name would grow strong.

    There's no particular name I don't like,
but it would be just fine if "Hiroshi" were "Hitoshi".

I'd like to answer the first question. None of my family's name was on the list. So I guess all of my family's names are quite unique.

  19. Hello Matt!
I will answer to the first question.
My mother's name "Akemi" and her older sister's name "Yumiko" are on the list in 1965. But they were born in 1950s. So maybe my grandparents have an idea in advance of the time. :P
Further, my mother's younger sister's name "Mami" is on the list of 1985, too. Her child's name "Shouta" is also on the list of the year 2000. And he was born in exact 2000. My aunt was one of a parent who set a trend.
