  1. Hello Matt,

I read about hot chocolate. It was very surprising that the first chocolate beverage have been created by the Mayan people!
I was also surprised that a cup of hot chocolate contains much polyphenol than a glass of wine. So hot chocolate is good for our health!

    See you next week!

  3. Hi,Matt!

    I saw about margaritas.
In the lesson I heard a salt-rimmed glass for the first time, and I was surprised to see the real salt-rimmed glass on the web page.
I know that we can prepare suger instead of salt.
By the way,I wonder why they do not mix suger or salt into the margaritas...
    I want to try margaritas!

  4. Hi Matt.

I read a link about Tibetan tea. I found 3 interesting points.
Firstly, they also put salt in the tea. I thought they would put some sugar so it was suprising.
Secondly, Nomads drinks 40 cups of Tibetan tea a day, that fact was really amazing. I wonder why don't they gain weight even thought they drink butter tea so much.
Thirdly,I saw butter teachurns made of wood on the pictures. They were pretty lovely.
I'd like to see making Tibetan tea and drink if I have a chance.

    See you next class!

  5. Hi. I read the article of "Butter tea".
According to it, there's a certain way of drinking butter tea in Tibet.
Guests drink it in sips, and drain the bowl when they leave.
    I'm majoring in Chinese.
So I would have opportunity to go to Tibet, when I work in China in the future.
This article was a good lesson to me.

  8. Hi! Matt.

I read the information about hot chocolate. I was surprised to know that the hot chocolate was created by the Mayan people. I thought it was made in Europe.
And as said in the article, American drinks it without milk, but I like with the milk better. With milk, it tastes mild.
Moreover, I was surprised to see the picture of White hot chocolate. I want to drink it sometime.

  10. Hi Matt!
Sorry for being absent last time. (I thank you so much for your understanding :))
I read an article about hot chocolate. I thought that the word cocoa is a Japanese-English expression. And a small difference between these two words matches my image : "Hot chocolate" sounds richer than "hot cocoa".
In Austria I have never ordered "hot chocolate", because I knew that they name hot chocolate for drinks with fake chocolate flavor or sirup. Therefore, I can hardly belive that discribe "German variations are also known for being very thick and heavy". Maybe, I should have visited better Cafe...

    See you tomorrow!

  12. Hi,Matt!

I read the wiki of hot chocolate.
I'm embarrassed to say that I thought that hot chocolate and cocoa were the different drinks!;(
I thought hot chocolate was hot milk with melted chocolate, and I thought cocoa was hot water with melted cocoa powder.
So, everything on wiki was surprising for me.

I didn't know exactly about hot chocolate/cocoa, but I like it very much.

    I'm looking forward to tasting!
    See you next class!!

As I don't like the marshmallows and don't know much about it, I didn't know that idea! I can't imagine the combination of cocoa and marchmallows! What about you? Have you ever tested it? If so, was it good?

It makes me surprised that the sweet chocolate residue found in jars from around 1100 B.C. is the earliest found evidence of the use of cacao to date.
The origin of hot chocolate was born over 3000 year.

  17. Hello Matt!!

I read the mate-article. This article contains a large amount of information!! I was especially surprised at the rules about mate: how to prepare, serve, drink it and so on. In South America there's even something like a mate-tea ceremony with certain manners, though it's more casual than formal like a tea ceremony in Japan. But the most interesting rule is a national law in Uruguay, according to whith you may not drink mate during the driving!!!
