I have relatives in U.S., and every year we exchange presents with them. Actually, my aunt decides which person to give the present. Last year, I was to give a present to my cousin, 11-year-old boy. It was hard to choose which one to buy, but I finally chose one.

ReplyDeleteI like New year's Eve the best. Because it happens so much funny things all over the world. In my family we make Soba and Tempura for "Going over to the coming year". And then, we go to the temple in the city to "gong" the watch night bell. It is kind of traditional way how we bring the New year's Eve... Whereas we are neither buddhist nor Shintoist. That's strange. In Vienna, we shot off fireworks and drink so much and have to shout as noisy as possible. It is... chaos. Some of them (people shouting on the street or drinking too much) are arrested or injured, of course. I think every year : how fool people are! But it is so fun. The celebration sometimes must be funny or foolish.

ReplyDeleteJanurary of this year was MY Coming of Age Day, and I had a lot of fun! I wore blue furisode(we call the kimonos which are worn on Coming of Age Day `furisode`) and met old friends whom I haven't seen so far. It was the day that we 20s thank our parents and neighbours for bringing us up and taking care of us. It was a pretty nice day and I loved the day so much!

When was I was young, Santa Claus gave me a present at Christmas Eve's night. (And I found it at the morning in Descember 25th.) I was so looking forward to opening the present.
And I enjoyed the Christmas dinner at the night with my family. My mother cooked the special dinner for us. It was very delicious!!

On New Year's Day I meet my relatives at my garandfather's house.
We do not have many times to see relatives, so we have very good time with them on that day.

In the night, we watch the special TV program for many hours and have a buckwheat called "Toshikoshi-Soba". Some people go to the shrine and celebrate the New year, but I prefer to be relaxed on New Year's Eve.
